Lorna Olagaray

Lorna Friedel Olagaray

is a delta native who has been creating beaded jewelry for the past ten years. Lorna says about her work,"I am drawn to rocks and stones of all kinds and sizes; their metaphysical properties interest me.  Natural stones are wonders to me, treasures that I feel fortunate to handle.  One of the most appealing aspects of this work is the pleasure it brings to the wearers of my designs.  That's truly at the heart of what keeps me going.  It's a joy."

Nancy Tillisch

Nancy Tillisch has dedicated herself to making uncommonly beautiful jewelry. She has studied design elements and stringing techinques from many of today's most important beadwork artists.

Her collection of jewelry is a unique blend of antique and authentic beads. She combines beads and buttons of history with ornaments of beauty and ritual; each piece becomes a collaboration in which the spirit of these cultures come alive

Artist Judy Dunn has a question and a suggestion.
Does the world need more plasma TV's, or more art?

You have a choice.  You can make a difference.
Take a pledge. A pledge to buy American Craft.
With at least some portion of your rebate dollars, buy something made by hand, by an American artist.  I can't imagine anything that could do more to get money into the economy that will have so many benefits.  Small business, the artist who works alone, or with a small number of employees, will be direct beneficiaries.  That money will go right back into circulation, into our economy, probably to purchase more supplies, or services to support their business.  You will bring a bit of beauty into your life, and you will be a patron of the arts! You don't have to make donations of millions of dollars so that a wing can be added to a museum to be a patron of the arts.  All it really takes is buying the work of artists.  Large or small, it all adds up.
And if you have enough "stuff" in your life, perhaps someone you know would be cheered by a handcrafted gift.

Noël Michelsen

If the story of a contemporary artist in pursuit of her passion was told, Noël Michelsen would be its subject. A native San Franciscan, Noël has been collecting heirloom objects of art from Africa, India, Asia, and Europe for 40 years and exquisite  eclectic beads of silver and gold, precious stones, findings and antique buttons-all talismans of beauty, ritual, and protection.
